Custom order pricing
Quote custom work with time, risk, and profit visible
Custom commissions often include work that a standard product price does not: design and setup, customer communication, expected revisions, rush costs, specialty supplies, and order-specific shipping. This calculator assembles those assumptions for one product type and one order of identical units.
It separates labor compensation from business profit, estimates deposit timing, and can compare a proposed base quote with the smallest supported quote that reaches your selected target margin.
How to use it
Turn your assumptions into a decision
- Enter quantity, target margin, deposit percentage, materials, and the production, design, administration, and revision time you expect.
- Add order-level costs and customer charges for setup, revisions, rush work, shipping, other work, and any discount.
- Apply generic platform and payment fees, then review the quote, deposit, balance, business profit, and effective owner earnings.
Behind the result
The customer charge funds direct cost, fees, and business profit
The working base quote is combined with customer add-ons and reduced by the entered discount. Direct cost includes materials, labor compensation, specialty supplies, packaging, actual shipping, rush cost, and other order cost.
Platform and processing fees are estimated from the customer charge. Business profit is what remains after direct cost and fees. Owner compensation combines entered labor compensation with business profit before it is divided by total labor hours.
Common questions
Questions this estimate can clarify
- Does a deposit increase revenue or profit?
- No. The deposit splits the same customer charge into an amount due now and a remaining balance. It changes payment timing, not total revenue, expense, or profit.
- How are revisions and rush work handled?
- Expected revision hours become labor cost, while revision and rush charges are separate customer add-ons. Entered rush cost remains a direct business expense.
- Does this create contract or refund terms?
- No. The calculator plans a quote and deposit amount only. It does not establish approvals, cancellations, refunds, milestones, signatures, or legal terms.
